EVASION
Evasion is the act of stealing ourselves from the reality to which we are subjected to embrace a belief, an idol, a dream, an even utopian ideal.
When we chose to choose an image, and put it on the wall of the room for example, the choice of this image was not made in vain, something that made us look at it, often are places where we have not wanted to be.
In my visit to Mindelo I tried to find the escape places of the Mindelenses, their moments of escape. I believe that this search was in itself a moment of evasion from my view as a photographer, a way to free myself from the Angolan reality in which I live and embrace a new one. The act of leaving in search of evasions to register, the process of constructing these images, was in the end the most profitable I took from this brief visit to Mindelo. It does not matter the final result, but everything I learned in building it and the friends that stay forever.
From Mr. Anastácio, a hero and militant of the PAIGC, who proudly defends the first flag of Cape Verde and does not support the new flag, which was chosen without a popular referendum and very similar to that of the European Union, to Sónia, a domestic girl from the neighborhood of Campinho, who coordinates the house she shares with her love Amilton, a sport fisherman and her four children, Luisa, Ricardo, Nelton and Ruben.
