Sérgio Afonso has born in Huambo, Angola.

Photographer since 1992, has deepen his knowledge in the area also by studying advertising and fashion photography in ETIC, Lisbon (2004). In 2008 moved to Rio de Janeiro, to study cinema editing in Darcy Ribeiro cinema school.

Sergio work was published on Revue Noir African photography anthology, Photo France and his work was exhibited on first Luanda Trienal, Private Lives (2013) in Lisbon, solo exhibition titled WANABE(2014) in Luanda, and collective exhibition on Catchupa Factory titled EVASÕES Mindelo, Cabo-Verde.

Sérgio participated on “between transits and journeys” artistic residence (2013) organized by Xerem and Triangle Network, at Lisbon and also at São Vicente, Catchupa Factory, photographers residence (2017) organized by AOJE.
